Def Leppard and Motley Crue in Mönchengladbach. 2023

  1. Mai 2023

SparkassenPark, Mönchengladbach, Germany.

Road tripping with some friends, all with good grilled food, some cold beers and heavy metal music! Two of my favourite hard & heavy bands from the 80’s on the same billing.

The night started with meeting friends and drinking beer until Def Leppard opened the evening. There were some rumours Alice Cooper was added to the bill, but sadly enough he wasn’t. Nevertheless Def Leppard kicked some serious ass.  All night classics only, especially from the 80’s and 90’s decades! Vocalist Joe Elliott is getting older but it’s clear he’s still in good shape. The same goes for the entire band, these guys still got it. They continue to rock us... and there will be a next time, no doubt about that.

What to say about the American Glam Metal band Motley Crue…. Hard hitting kick ass straight into your face Sleaze f#cking Metal. Going wild since the early/mid 80’s, but damn these guys clearly getting old. Not to be rude, but please get back into shape guys, make some new kick ass content and lose weight. I believe in you guys! You guys always did it and made tons of classics over the years. For now, sadly enough Tommy’s drums aren’t as good as they were, same goes Nikki’s prerecorded bass lines and especially for Vince vocal parts, these are full of autotune. Really horrible, I feel bad for him. For me these bad boys from the Sunset Strip are just a piece of history with classic songs I played all over a 1000 times. Also there is less energy on stage (well, maybe this is normal at their age). Also the fact Mick Mars (guitars) is not part of the band anymore doesn’t make me happy either. For sure still a fan, but I can tell you I'm entirely confused.

Nevertheless besides all my critical words it was an enjoyable show with some good looking dancers who could be the guys granddaughters hehe..

But who’s waiting for some sexy good old woman in their 50’s .. LOL.

The night ended with some blowing fireworks and a final currywurst. A pleasant road trip in a disco on wheels haha, thanks to my Dutch crew, Anton, Marc, Jaap and Tim and all familiar faces we’ve met. Let’s Rock!
