Metalcore and Modern Metal are names that should be able to give you an idea in which corner(s) to place Slaves Of Kali. These Germans hail from berlin and have vowed to themselves that they will not be bound by any borders when making, writing and playing music. Well, they have kept to their word on Unchartered Trails, their debut album.
This is rocking, thrashing and punching exactly in the right places. It goes from very slow to quite fast, but always within certain boundaries that will give you enough scope to understand precisely what they are playing and singing. The sound of the album is transparent without compromising the heaviness, the grooves, the dirty guitar sounds and most of all the atmosphere that makes Unchartered Trails into such a fine album.
Slaves Of Kali might be new on the scene, they have certainly made a lasting impression. I can’t but say that this one will be played more often than I thought it would when I first started listening, as it is still growing on me. So Unchartered Trails really is a recommended album! It is available through their Bandcamp site as a digital album. Modern ways, hey.
