Beriedir are from Bergamo, Italy and play progressive power metal. AQVA is their second full length album and you can hear the experience shining through. I really can’t say if they have improved much as I never heard their EP The Line from 2015, nor the 2018 debut album The Path Beyond The Moon or the following EP Lullabies Beyond The Moon, which was released in 2020.
So, about AQVA, the sound is very much what you would expect from an Italian power metal band. Transparent enough to make sure you hear every note that is played, but also be able to keep the heaviness as it should be. The harmony vocals are done in a way that prevents them from becoming too visible. The voice of singer Stefano Nüsperli is very light, but still fits the music. Speaking of which, Beriedir likes to go fast, even trying out some Dragonforce style speeds. And yes, they do work, mostly because after a little bit they tend to slow down quite a bit and become very melodic.
Those contrasting variations keep the listening experience an interesting one and prevents Beriedir sounding like too many other symphonic power metal bands. So, to just make it easy, if Rhapsody, Stratovarius and those kinds of bands are your thing, please try Beriedir. I feel you will like it. Somehow the record company can’t provide me with the way AQVA is distributed, nor in which formats it is available. So, your best bet is to contact the band through their Facebook page.
