Crystal Throne is a relative new band as they were formed as little time a go as in 2019, in the Northeast of France. They knew from the start what they were looking for, and that was to mix progressive  and heavy rock and metal with each other. The result of this quite daring feat is their debut album Crystal Throne.

And yes, even though all songs are their own originals, you do hear sounds and influences by bands like Queensryche and Fates Warning mixed with some Saxon, Judas Priest and even Iron Maiden riffs. On top of that you have the use of neo classical guitar solo's. Does it work? Yes, it does. Does that mean that this is a very high standard album? Errr, I'm not sure.

The songs are alright, but to me they miss that little bit of extra depth that all the bands I mentioned do add to their own tunes. Therefore the songs don't stick. So yes, this is quite satisfactory as a debut album, but I do hope that they take the time to delve deeper into their own minds and set out to write music that will work it's way into the listeners heads as well as their hearts.

Crystal Throne is available through the bandcamp site and in the format Digital Download, CD and Double Vinyl.
