Oh my God, how do you describe where the symphonic prog metal band Catalyst Crime  comes from? Well, let's just say they're very international, with several nationalities playing in the band.

The music goes from Ayreon style rock opera through Nightwish like massive bombastic sounds to Fates Warning reminiscent  progressive music. They even use some Dimmu Borgir epic black metal influences and speed where needed. And as if that's not enough, it's good. No, that's an understatement; it's brilliant. And before you ask, no, they're not inventing a new style of music, but blending a number of them into one beautiful coherent album.

The twelve songs you get to hear on this debut album are without question all top notch, and there isn't a song that lacks in impressiveness. The only thing some people could find  annoying just a bit is the high voice of Zoë Marie Federoff, as it might be too sweet for their taste. Thankfully she also knows how to let loose, and because the music is so bloody good it isn't an issue for me personally. Put together with the male vocals of some guests plus the occasional grunt/scream I must admit I'm sold.

The production is above reproach as well. Everything is distinguishable, nothing overpowers, but also nothing has been left lacking. So like I said, I'm sold. Not only on the sound, but especially on Catalyst Crime as a whole .

The album is available through good record stores and https://www.catalystcrime.com/ as CD or Digital Download.
