October 2023 was a month full of hard & heavy concerts. Through label work and other musical activities there was no time to write full proper articles about each concert, that’s why I wrote a small resume of each of them in just one article.

The month started with a big fun bus trip to a Street Punk / Oi concert at Poppodium Iduna in the North of The Netherlands. Where we saw the local Frysian Oi (tribute) band Oi58, a band that played an enjoyable setlist of classic Oi hits and some songs by their own. Complaint from Tilburg followed and their Street Punk music is always catchy and is played with a lot of joy and passion. I always enjoy the energy of this band onstage! The Classic English Street Punk Oi band Cockney Rejects was the headliner of tonight and the band started back in the year 1978 and they still didn’t lost their hooligan attitude. Besides the fact half of their songs is a tribute to their favourite football club West Ham United. The band still loves some good friendly violent fun. With a small fist fight in the audience and exciting songs like: “Headbanger, Join The Rejects, War On The Terraces, I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles” and others, the Cockney Rejects closed their farewell tour appropriately.

The 2nd concert this month was Luke Appleton and Fury at Muziekcafe Helmond, The Netherlands.  After a nice road trip with my good friend Ed, we arrived on time in Helmond. After a good meal at Lokaal42 we went to the venue. The English musician Luke Appleton, (known from Absolva, Iced Earth and others),.. opened the night with a tight acoustic set of classic heavy metal with a lot of emotion and melodies.  A great one man show!  After a short break Fury from England entered the stage. The band around Julian Jenkins (guitar/lead vocals) played a positive and enjoyable show to watch and listen to. You might know Becky Baldwin as the bass player of Mercyful Fate during their last tour. Fury is a 5 piece band from England with powerful, melodic catchy songs with twin (female and male) vocal parts. I especially love the polyphonic parts with the sing along choruses.

Final concert in a row was at Café Hell in Diest, Belgium. After a road trip we arrived on time at the venue. Where we talked and drank some beers with friends and people we knew. The first band Violent Sin is coming from Belgium and the band nailed the place with their powerful Speed Metal madness with high-pitch vocal parts and screams. Totally old school with studs, spikes and leather, for fans of the very early Slayer. World Decay also came from Belgium but I missed them through the meet and greet with the classic American Speed Metal band Nasty Savage. Great humble guys. The band around frontman Nasty Ronnie was formed in Brandon, Florida in the year 1983 and was known for their crazy stage act. Vocalist Nasty Ronnie, who used to be a wrestler entertained us on some serious crazy madness, including the famous tv act. The band played raw and intense with a short but sharp setlist full of classics such as: “Gladiator, Savage Desire, Metal Knights, You Snooze, You Lose, XXX”, all among others. I am sure all headbangers enjoyed this night of Metal and blood, I did. Also great funny and interesting story about the Tardy brothers, who are now known for being the founders and singer and drummer from the greatest Death Metal band in history Obituary!
