If people talk about cool underground US Metal, sometimes bands like Ruthless, Neil Turbin (ex-Anthrax), Resistance, Hirax, Heretic, Deliverance or Viking are mentioned. And what happens if (ex-) members of all those bands find together to form another band? Yes, cool Heavy Metal, of course! Primal were formed in 2014 and release their self-titled debut album in 2016 which is now available as a re-release. There are no bonus tracks here. It´s released the same way as it was released three years ago. Those twelve included tracks here kick serious ass! It´s cool, pounding, timeless heavy metal, the old school way, but without being cheap retro stuff. There are cool headbanging riffs and pounding drums. The vocals are not as high-pitched as I expect this from US Metal bands. Their singer Alberto Zamarbide (ex-Logos, ex-V8) reminds me heavily on Brian Ross (Blitzkrieg, Satan) and Daniele „Bud“ Ancillotti (Strana Officina, Ancillotti, Budf Tribe) with his warm voice without any aggression. The powerful production is great too. This is finally a new, unknown band which blows me away! Everything done the right way!
