The Year 2019 started off with this new Release of one of my favorite Guitar-Players of my Youth, Kane Roberts. I loved all of his Solo-Records so far, especially his first two Releases, “Kane Roberts” from 1987 and “Saints and Sinners” from 1991. And of Course not to forget his great Work on Alice Cooper’s “Constrictor” and “Raise Your Fist and Yell” in the 80’s. Now he is back with his sixths Studio Effort “The New Normal”. And again he has brought lots of Guest-Stars on the Table: Alice Cooper himself, Paul Taylor, Kip Winger, Ken Mary and the Ladies Nita Strauss and Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy. But all that unfortunately doesn’t change my Opinion that this Album is quite disappointing to me. The Production and the Songs are way too modern, the Growls on some Tracks are completely out of Range and the Hooks and Choruses in the Melody-Lines are fully missing. Nearly all of the Trademarks I loved so much are gone. So if you like modern Rock with some good Tracks on it, it’s fine, but if you really love AOR and Melodic-Rock with strong Tracks, better choose his earlier Works.
