Execute: 2019

Forming in the year 2014 and hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Zex features a line-up of Gab Hole (bass), Mark Useless (drums), Gretchen Steel (vocals) and Jo Capitalicide (guitar). They've released a couple of albums and half a dozen singles. This is a review of their album “Execute” from the year 2019. Zex stands for raw and chaotic Punk Rock with a really strong NWOBHM touch. Most of all they do remind me to acts such as: The Runaways and Girlschool but all with a huge Punk vibe. I guess this is overall because of the female fronted vocal ranges of Gretchen Steel and the really chaotic & sloppy music and recorded sound of this release. Also the visual aspect of the musicians do remind me to legendary cult acts like: English Dogs, Avenger and Necronomicon. Metal Punk at it’s finest!
