My cry for help has been heard! After the re-release of the first Impact album “Never Too Young To Rock!!” from 1982 two years ago, now we also get the second album “The Flag” from Headbangers Records, which was originally released back in 1987. And there is a lot of improvement here! I also liked the music of the debut, but it suffered from a really weak production. Now we have great songs and a great production on the second album! This is a great mix of classic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal which reminds me on bands like Saxon, Highway Chile and Strana Officina. There are great riffs and the vocals are powerful and melodic, but without any aggression in them. The music always sounds fresh and timeless. Besides the ten album tracks there are also five bonus tracks featured here. But they seem to be from another era because they were more in the commercial Hard Rock with keyboards, strangely played by Dutch drum icon Ed Warby (Ayreon, Star One, ex-Gorefest, ex-Tempter). At least I know “You And I” and “Red Tape” from their 2017 live album entitled “Live At Rotterdam Rocks”. Nearly one hour you get true, classic and really good Heavy Metal. Everyone should get this because the original LP is hard to find nowadays!
