Cretin

The Demos 1988, 1989 & 1990

Headbangers Records: 2020

Originally founded under the name of Cretin Brains in 1988, this Thrash Metal band from Eindhoven shortened its name to Cretin later after several line-up changes. They were only active from 1988 to 1990, but released three demos during this short period which are all featured on this special CD. Two of those demos are also listed on Metal Archives. The third one was totally unknown to me so far. I love compilations with complete discographies! So this is my chance here! The opening track, “The Train“, could have also been featured on Overkill´s ”Feel The Fire“ album. But you can also hear influences from bands Metallica, Testament, Forbidden, Anthrax and Nuclear Assault. Sometimes Cretin also had a slightly Punkish attitude in their songs and you think of Suicidal Tendencies or D.R.I. while listening to this. You can always hear that the band had much fun to play. They truly kept the American Bay Area Thrash spirit alive! It´s strange that they never became bigger because this is not bad at all! Also the sound of those more than 30 years old demo recordings is pretty awesome! Great stuff! Every old school Thrash Metal maniac should really get this!
