If you are a German band and your singer has a dark and grovelling voice while you play heavy music with several other influences added, you'll just have to suffer the fate that you will be compared to Rammstein. In some cases that is justified, in others it's an unjustice.
I can't decide which one it is when I listen to Sieben by Schwarzer Engel, as sometimes the guitars sound exactly like that massive German force. But where they tend to go the metallic industrial way, Schwarzer Engel has a more eighties electro pop vibe hidden underneath their heavy layers. So instead of becoming heavier, Schwarzer Engel becomes more melodic. And it fits. It really does. Why? Because it adds to the diversity and takes you away from the obvious comparisons. So I guess my answer is that in this case it is an unjustice!
The songs are well written, properly recorded and expertly produced, making this an altogether very pleasant album. I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised by how fine this is. I hope you like it too. This album will be available in several digital formats. Just have a look on the sites mentioned above.
