InHuman is a 'new' Belgium symphonic metal band. Before they were called 'Anwynn' but they changed the bandname because of the new music style and presence. And then InHuman was born. Symphonic metal but heavier then most of those bands. With some other musical metal influences as well. As Astrid (the keyboardplayer, composer) said herself : "Symphonic metal also for people who dont usually listen to symphonic metal themselves". So lets start with talking about the songs it starts with a beautiful instrumental mysterious intro song. Then 'The chosen cancer' which contains all of the musical elements of InHuman in one song. Perfect song to start the album with. Its bombastic and epic. Which song is even more epic for me personally is 'Unbearably human'. With a big role of the Gent university choir. Such a beautiful song. The choir is also beautifuly mixed and doesnt dissapear in the background like which is the case alot of times with symphonic metal music. Also the sound overall of this album is very well mixed. Of the song Unbearably human there is also a music video. Its about a girl that finds different human emotions in bottles. And makes her own perfect blend that will fit her. Also the song 'Clockwork in the past' has his own music video and there are some lyric videos aswell. Then the song The day I died. One of my personal favorites aswell. Mainly because of the clean male vocals in this song. I get everytime chills when I listen to this song. Beautiful parts of this male clean vocalist! My only wish for the next album is more of these male clean vocals! Then the song 'Casus Belli' which first starts with a lullaby. Which if I had a kid I would definitely use it as a lullaby. I am sure she or he would fall asleep in no time then haha. Casus belli also contains some special sounds. Like baby sounds, screams and footsteps. Which makes you wonder about the lyrics. Well the story is pretty extreme behind it. Its about a women that gets left behind together with her baby because of her men that is going to war. The woman is scared and keeps her baby safe by going to war herself also. On the battlefield she kills a person accidentally first. But then realise that she likes killing people so then she decides to kill them all on the battlefield and enjoying it and then goes home to her baby. Interesting storyline. The album itself has a variety of nice female vocals combined with deep and agressive growls and epic choirs. With nice riffs and alot of stuff happening musically. Bombastic and epic like I mentioned before. The debut album gets closed by the instrumental song 'Home'. Which makes a perfect ending to this beautiful debut!
