An American band that plays US-Metal. Well, at least that’s a proper fit for Psychoprism. On “R.I.S.E.”, their third release, they have upped the game and made sure they are the real thing. Fast paced songs with a lot going on throughout the whole 69 minutes that this album takes to complete. And I must admit, I love every second of it.

Psychoprism were formed in 2012 and they are definitely flying the flag for old school US-metal, and doing that with gusto. The addition of keyboards gives the music just that little bit of extra depth and adds a lot of melody to what otherwise would be just a test of power. Now you get a number of layers, with the guitars, the keyboards and the vocals all battling for attention, but at the same time giving each other the space needed to shine.

Of course, as is mandatory with this type of music, you have a guitarist in Bill Visser that could have come straight out of Mike Varney’s stable. But whereas many others play as if they’re masturbating on their guitars, Bill Visser actually stays in tune with the songs. As for those, they are all of a above average quality. So, you get fast riffs with good solos and a very fitting voice, provided by Jess Rittgers, who knows exactly how to complement the music. All together it provides you with the full US-metal experience on a high level. And you really couldn’t ask for more.
