From the depth of Illinois, we have the pleasure of listening to Extinguish The Sun, a proper metal band, that has gotten their influences from bands like Pantera, Clutch, Baroness and Mastodon, just to name a few. They have made this amalgamation of styles into their own, giving them a heavy, but also fuzzy feel. Like a stoner version of the bands mentioned.

The songs have a definite Metal feel, give you the feeling there is something about to happen, have that building up of tension and emotion that makes music so very interesting. This is at least that, and even more, because they are most certainly making a statement and administering a lot of interest on my part. I am thoroughly impressed by their musicality and intensity. What makes it even more effective, is that they know how to reign it in so that it doesn’t become overbearing or too much. Everything is spaced and paced just right.

Transformations is actually the second full length album of these guys, and is a real joy to listen to. And, as they are releasing it themselves, you should look up the sites noted here to see in which formats you can order this. Release date is set at June 17th 2022, so you wouldn’t have to wait very long.
