The Dutch band Restless was around from 1987 until 1995 and produced four demos during those years. These have all been put to good use and released as a full CD by Metal Warrior Records. And yes, again they have succeeded in surprising me with some very good music that I never have heard before.

As you can guess this is old fashioned straight forward Heavy Metal with clean vocals that really fit the music like the proverbial glove. Whether they play loud or do a ballad, it all comes together quite nicely. And no, of course these recordings aren’t perfect. They’re demos, which bands used to get the attention of labels, but more importantly venues and youth centres, as to score live dates. And in that respect Restless have done a great job each time.

I was the chairman of a youth centre during that era, and if I would have been presented with this I would definitely have booked them in my joint. Even though they disbanded in 1997, they recorded a reunion song in 2004 for the Heavy Metal maniacs. They also did this in 2018 for a Waldrock reunion. The big difference being that after the latter one the band decided to keep on going. So, you might get a chance to see them live after all.
