White Heat is a Belgian Hard Rock/Heavy Metal band which has released three albums in the eighties. This is a rerelease of their third one, and it’s a cracker. Thank you for the record companies to take the chance and bring this to our attention, as this is very good. “Runnin’ For Life” is filled with a lot of Melodic Rock/Metal songs with a power and drive that are designed to make you happy.

The sound is very appealing, very clean, but still rough enough to give it that hard rocking edge. If I’d have to compare it to anything it would be like Ricky Medlocke of Blackfoot fame (now Lynyrd Skynyrd) is singing and jamming with early Mötley Crüe. Yes, it’s all very simple and direct, but also extremely effective. So, you get a bit of Glam Rock with your eighties Melodic Metal.

For this rerelease the band have rerecorded the four best tracks of the original album, which are “Feel It”, “C’mon”, “Deathspoon” and the title track. They aren’t really that different, just that bit louder. But they are a nice addition, as they show us how the band might sound when they choose to record new stuff. Well, they have my vote!

I wouldn’t have guessed it beforehand, but I am quite taken with “Runnin’ For Life”. Enough to want to listen to White Heat a whole lot more. I read that the first two albums of White Heat have also been awarded a second life, so the next thing for me to do is try and find them as well.
