Disaster is a Colombian Thrash Metal band that was formed around 1997, so they’re not exactly new to the scene. They have only released one album before this one, and that was “Blasphemy Attack”, released in 2014. After that they have been playing and touring. Plus, writing songs, especially during 2017 and 2018. Those tunes have been gathered on “Secrets From The Past”, which saw the light of day on November 29^th 2021.

It is a typical Thrash Metal record with Death Metal influences thrown in at the right places. This gives you a record full of fast riffs combined with slow ones, with a drummer that knows how to handle the speed and a bass player who also has a gravelly voice. This is really old school good sounding Thrash. The voice makes it a little dirty, but not too much.

You even have some parts where a bit of a singalong is required. Most of all, though, this is rough and tumbling Metal with good guitar solos and a decent sound. So, all the ingredients are there for success, you would think. But I feel that the songs are lacking that little bit of extra quality. They could have used more variety to lift them up just that little bit more. But that’s just me.

So, if you love your old school Thrash Metal with Death Metal ingrained, you need to have a listen to Disaster. Because these Colombians show that their name is everything but accurate.
